Safety First & Foremost!

* If you have never owned a firearm or if it's been over ten years since you fired a firearm, you want to take a class. Learning or reviewing the fundamentals of shooting, the key safety rules and having supervised range time will add to your safe shooting enjoyment.

* Fire a firearm before you purchase it. This is especially true for seniors and those with deterity challenges. On the Frequently Asked Questions page there are a number of ranges with attached retail stores. Contact me if none of these work for you.

* When you decide on the firearm to purchase, go to the store during the week when it isn't busy. Have the salesperson take it apart and put it back together. Then you take it apart and put it back together.  If you can't take the firearm apart and put it back together then it's not the right gun for you. This holds true for all firearms - handguns, rifles and shotguns.

* Keep your firearm well maintained and lubricated.
